The Knights of Columbus was incorporated March 29, 1882, by the state of Connecticut. At that time, there was only one council, encompassing 36 members. The early years were a struggle, but the perseverance of the members, including that of founder Blessed Michael McGivney, put the organization on solid footing. One hundred forty years later, the Knights of Columbus is 2 million members strong and represented all around the world.
This exhibition celebrates the people and events of the 140-year history of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to what is already on exhibit in the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center’s main galleries, rarely seen items from the Knights of Columbus Museum Inc. Collection have been placed on display, along with newer, never exhibited acquisitions and loans.
The physical exhibit at the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center will be complemented with an online exhibition. Through photography, video, and audio, the exhibit will showcase specific work of the Knights of Columbus to put their faith into action.
