Since 1223, when St. Francis of Assisi created the first crèche, three-dimensional depictions of the birth of Christ have been found in Christian homes throughout the world as a testament to the universal nature of Christianity. The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is home to almost 300 works featuring the story of the Birth of Christ from various parts of the world. This complementary exhibition to our featured 2022 Christmas exhibition, Christmas in the Castle, showcases a wide range of these works from the collection at the Pilgrimage Center, varying in size from a tiny Nativity in a walnut shell to a 100-plus figure Neapolitan crèche.
