November 6, 2021 – February 6, 2022
The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center resumes its tradition of showcasing Christmas in art and culture with its 2021 exhibition, The Nativity Story: Art of the Crèche. The show opens November 6, 2021 and continues through February 6, 2022.
The story of the Jesus’ birth has been told around the world through word and art. The biblical writings of Isaiah, Matthew and Luke offer the central accounts and inspire many interpretations in art. These expressions may be folk art or fine art, and may include modifications to setting, time period, and landscape as well as the addition of nontraditional characters and animals, while emphasizing the importance of Christ’s birth.
The 2021 exhibition is derived fully from the Center’s extensive collection and shares many examples of how the Nativity has been depicted in art across the globe as well as the popularity and significance of this annual Christian observance worldwide.
The Center continues its custom of free admission and onsite parking. Beginning November 6, the Center will be open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays. In the interest of public health several precautions are in place, including the need for timed-entry tickets. Please visit the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center website when planning your visit.
